The following is a summary of the competition process and rules. For full details, please see the terms.
What is the contest timeline?
- Contest Kickoff - September 7th, 2011 @ SF New Tech
- Submission Ends - October 16th, 2011 @ Viadeo API contest website
- Judging Period - October 17th-21st, 2011
- Winner Announced - October 24th, 2011 @ Viadeo Blog
Who can compete?
This contest is open to all developers who are at least (eighteen) 18 years of age, excluding residents in the following countries: Province of Quebec in Canada, Cuba, Iran, Syria, North Korea, Myanmar (formerly Burma) and Sudan. For more information, please see Terms and Conditions.
When do I have to submit my app?
Submissions are due by 11:59 PM PST on October 16th, 2011
All submissions must be localized in English in order to be eligible to win a prize.
What do I have to do to participate?
To participate in the competition, you must register, then submit your entry on our official submission page by 11:59 PM Pacific Daylight Time on October 16th, 2011. We will begin accepting submissions on September 7th, 2011.
Can I participate with an application that I've already developed?
Only applications and services that did not have publicly available integration with Viadeo prior to September 7th, 2011 are eligible for the competition.
What is the jury process?
From October 15th to October 20th, 2011, judging of finalists will take place. There will be three judging criteria:
- Smart use of APIs
- The app must incorporate the Viadeo API, but can also include other API's.
- Other APIs can be added to enrich the app.
- Killer app
- Is it innovative and creative? Is it disruptive?
- Is it easy to use?
- Is it visually attractive?
- Is it useful?
- Is it based on a good business model?
- Out of the box
- Is it ready to launch?
We will announce the winners on the Viadeo blog.

Each application will be rated by the jury using the following critera:

- Is it useful?
